Hi, thanks for the feedback.
I think that is because VLC uses relatively large GOP size (250) to encode H.264 video by default. GOP size is the interval (number of frames) between keyframes. Players can start playback only after they found a keyframe.
Try changing the following setting:
VLC Preferences > Show All > Input / Codecs > Video codecs > x264 >
Set "Maximum GOP size" to a smaller value such as 25.

Thanks, this helped a lot! recording from quick time movie player/recorder is working well.
Btw, I like this project and have some spare code cycles. If you have some beginner level bugs that I can fix and learn (and help the project in parallel), do let me know.
