I don't use FreeBSD or care, but PR welcome if you would be willing to keep the binaries (x32/x64) up to date.
You can always install it yourself globally and imagemin will use that if it's in your PATH ;)

Interesting, I have pngquant installed, still the module wants to install it from source.

Interesting, indeed. If it's in your PATH it'll try and spawn it and check if it exists with code 0. Otherwise it'll try and build from source.

If you call pngquant without parameters, it exits with an exit code 1. If you call it with --help, it will exit with 0. Could this be the cause?
