I thought I was going nuts, thanks!

While I"m here, does anyone know how to stop "over drawing" of data out of the chart area when switching between data types? I actually like the animation, but if I go from a chart with say Y axis values of 0 to 5, to a chart with values of 0 to 100, it will briefly draw the data way out of bounds before shrinking it back into the chart.

I explicitly set minY and maxY values depending on the data type, but it seems those are not respective for a short duration initially, resulting in a vast overshooting of data prior to the data settling into the chart area.

I didn't understand the issue, why you need to enable preventCurveOverShooting in your case? Because it looks good.
Do you want to have a sharp chart instead of curved corner lines?
Then you can set isCurved: false in your LineChartData
