That option no longer exists and gcalcli ALWAYS uses https now. Use the latest code from git.

packages/ports have to have versions that increment. I don't want to just make up versions and then potentially conflict with you in the future if you start doing versioned releases again. If you could tag commits with a version increment when you feel it's worthy that would be greatly appreciated.
