I agree with this proposal. This should not be a problem because Slicer uses specific commit hashes of ITK, and frequently its own fork with a few Slicer-specific commits.

We should do this sooner rather than later. Most recent confusion: #4. I think I have permissions to move this repo over to ISC. @jcfr do you think execution of Hans' proposal now will break anything on Slicer's side?

Since we already have https://github.com/InsightSoftwareConsortium/itkMGHImageIO, I propose to delete this repo re-fork it.

• re-forked from the InsightSoftwareConsortium organization. It is clear which one is the authoritative one.
• associated the 3d-slicer-fork
• updated the description of the Slicer repository to be Fork used for historical reference and to ensure older versions of ITK and Slicer can be built.
