This is a very good idea and something we've heard from other people as well.

This will definitely be included in a future build.

Oh didn't see this issue so I double posted in #51

Anyway I would be willing to help build it. Is this something that would be appreciated by you @hillelcoren, or would you not merge.

There are already so many time tracking utilities out there. Would it make
more sense to integrate with what's out there?

@crawfordcomeaux perhaps.... which ones are you referring to?

Storing the actual times and making a workflow for converting them to an invoice is what will take the most time, so it might actually take the same amount of time.

That being said using another service will give us integration on multiple platforms from the start.

I'm also in need of this feature!

+1 - just for logging of hours. Doesn't have to 'tracking' necessarily, in my mind.

Is this still somewhere on the timeline for future releases? A cool implementation that would work for me would be with Toggl, just a suggestion.

This could use a pause button. The start button turns into a stop button. When the stop button is pressed, the task is submitted. What if I need a break in the middle of a task? Pause would be so handy.

hillelcoren avatar hillelcoren commented on May 20, 2024

Thanks, that's good feedback.

When you pause/resume would you expect it to create multiple tasks for each segment of work or just create one task with the total active duration.

You can see this link to see how toggl handles this: http://support.toggl.com/my-profile/#continuebutton

from invoiceninja.

abinadi avatar abinadi commented on May 20, 2024

Absolutely one task with the total active duration. That is the nature of the pause.

The continue option would work as well. I envision it working something like:

  • you press the start button on the task;
  • you need a break and so you click the stop button;
  • a task is created and you are redirected to the task list;
  • you want to continue the task, so you click on the task to edit it and a button called "continue" is there for you to click on and the timer continues where you left off.

Thanks, we'll look into adding this in a future release.

hillelcoren avatar hillelcoren commented on May 20, 2024

I've updated our implementation to include a "resume" button. Thanks again for the feedback!

theoryshaw avatar theoryshaw commented on May 20, 2024

Thanks Hillel for implementing.

Task 'types' would be nice.

Also would be nice to have an interface similar to this

Just for quickly entering time over the week. The process now of creating a new task,etc.--too many buttons.

Thanks.

hillelcoren avatar hillelcoren commented on May 20, 2024

Thanks for the feedback!

We see our current tasks implementation as a 1.0 release and plan to continue to improve it over time. We'll try to incorporate these changes into a future release.

from invoiceninja.

hillelcoren avatar hillelcoren commented on May 20, 2024

I've just checked in some further enhancements:

  • Re-worked editing task details
  • Enabled adding a task to an existing invoice

More to come, hopefully we're moving in the right direction...
