It really depends on the monospaced font you use in the terminal.

What font do you use?

I'm using a patched version of SourceCodePro (from these guys) but the font doesn't seem to be the problem.

i tried with a bunch of different fonts, and the problem persists. e.g., here it is with monaco:

edit: hmm, i see the squares are bigger now (but not as big as they are in your screenshot.)

the --no-ansi flag works well (except for the solid squares):

so I guess this issue is not a big deal for me (though it is a bug). thanks for your help!

On Ubuntu, I use Monaco. I suppose that something is wrong with the character on different platforms.

Instead of changing the font, probably I will consider to change the square character since I see this is an issue on Windows too: #19 (comment) (there it's displayed ?).
