The GitHub Pages section of my site repo's settings says: "Your site's DNS settings are using a custom subdomain, the-garlic-os.is-a.dev, that's set up as an A record. We recommend you change this to a CNAME record pointing at [YOUR USERNAME].github.io."

GitHub apparently sees the-garlic-os.is-a.dev as an A record instead of a CNAME record. That's odd considering my JSON entry sets a CNAME record and not an A record.
