Did you try to add dictionary file manually? Switch to Dictionaries tab (book icon), tap +, browse the file system.
"SD card / storage / emulated / 0".
Are you sure that's the actual path? With spaces in the name "SD Card", like that?
Which version of Android you're on?

Thank you for the fast answer.
I tried your tips, but I did not go further.
I am adding some screnshots that document this. I hope this will help solve the problem. Many Thanks.

Interesting. Looks like aard2 is not allowed to browse content of /storage/emulated for some reason. Can you go up a level and browse content of other directories like /mnt ?
What is this screenshot showing wikipedia opened from /mnt/sdcard - does it mean you're able to find it there manually and use it from there?
from aard2-android.
When I click "SD card" (5.screenshot), TotalCommander opens "/ storage / emulated / 0" (4th screenshot). There are a lot of folders (22, like Alarms, Android, Audio, DCIM, Pictures, TWRP and others). And of course "dewiki-20161222.slob".
When I go up a level, i am back to "SD card".
Screenshot # 3 comes up when I tap books. After tapping +, screenshot # 4 shows up.
When I manually navigate to "/ mnt / sdcard", I find "dewiki-20161222. When I click the file to open, the message " The file is too large to open on the device " appears.
I really dont know what to do in order to get the offline wikipedia to run.

Ok, now I am very confused.
Screenshot # 3 comes up when I tap books.
It shows that you do have dewiki-20161222.slob already open. What exactly is the problem, why do you think it is not found?
After tapping +, screenshot # 4 shows up.
Er... the only way Total Commander would show up is if you are tapping "+" button in "Use Styles" section of Settings tab (gear icon) - this is to select user CSS to change dictionary appearance, has nothing to do with selecting dictionaries. Unless this particular OS - I see it is identified as LineageOS - does something crazy and decides for some reason to launch Total Commander instead of Aard2's built-in simple file selector.

Sorry, I made a mistake.
After tapping +, screenshot # 2 shows up (not screenshot # 4).
Screenshots # 2 and 3 are from Aard 2, screenshots # 4 and 5 are from TotalCommander.
Sorry again for my mistake.

What about Screenshot # 3? it shows dewiki-20161222.slob is found
from aard2-android.
It is found, but it does not open. It is also not clickable.
Under cyanogen OS 13 the respective version of the wikide opened automatically. This is no longer the case under LineageOS.
from aard2-android.
It is found, but it does not open.
I am not sure what you mean by that. If it is found (and no error message shows up) then it is open. Are you saying that when you type something in lookup nothing is ever found?
It is also not clickable.
Also not sure what you mean by this. Tapping dictionary name or star toggles "favorite" status, tapping "On/off" activates/deactivates it (includes or exclude from lookup results). Are you saying this no longer works?

Miracles about miracles !!! The search now works, but slowly but it works (search example: filecard)
But after clicking Filecard, the content is not displayed, but the following screen appears:
Any idea?

@ ildar
Unfortunately this didn´t change anything.

Unfortunately this didn´t change anything.
We established so far that the dictionary is indeed found, and even that lookup seems to be working. So is there actually an issue?
from aard2-android.
@itkach
Yes, the dictionary is now really found with the Keywords (Indexwords). But after clicking a Keword, the context for this Keyword dosn´t show up (you see only an empty page (see second screenshot 4 comments above). I tried it with many Keywords - every time the same.
So there is still an issue which is not solved.
@ildar
By the way: Can you please tell me the full path where you store the file "xxwiki.(date).slob" in? Thank you.

Please tell us which filesystem is used on the sdcard. Do you use adopted storage or can you use the sdcard when pulled from your phone on a separate machine?
Please paste the logcat output when starting and using Aard2 to some pastebin site and tell us the link.
I am also using Aard 0.35 on LineageOS 14.1 without problems, but to use the non-splitted slob files I needed to stop using fat32 on the sdcard by adopting the sdcard storage, otherwise there is a 4GB file size limit.
from aard2-android.
THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED!!!
What I did:
From the website "https://github.com/itkach/slob/wiki/Dictionaries" I downloaded the files "dewiki-20170220-vol-01.slob, dewiki-20170220-vol-02.slob" and stored them under "SD card/ storage / emulated / 0". This is also where I had stored the file "dewiki-20161222.slob" with 4,57 GB (which didn´t work).
My Oneplus One has 3 GB RAM und 64 GB Memory. A part of this Memory is used for the System Memory and an other part is used for the SD-Card. So the SD-Card is not removable. I believe (but I´m not sure) that the SD-Card is formatted with FAT32 because the splttet dewiki works and the non-splitted dewiki doesn´t.
Anyhow, I´m very happy that the offline wikipedia now works and I would like to say thanks to all you folks for trying to help me. All the best for you.
@itkach I think this thread can be closed now.

@WolfHaberbosch glad to hear it :)
