I think you can close this issue as being "user error". I looked at the code and it appears to do the right thing - which is supported by its correct behavior under IIS Express with custom ports.
For context, I ran into this issue when I was playing around in a VM and only later (when I looked at the code to fix it) realized I was using port remapping on the networking hardware. So I was requesting a public URL via port 8080, but the network layer remapping meant that the Bonobo web server saw it coming in on port 80 instead. (I remapped 8081 to 443 which is why http/https was correctly shown.)
