I've tried this on Windows 7 and Windows XP, with IE7, IE8, and Chrome Dev, and in all of them, it's working as expected for me. Can you gist your code or send a link to the example app that's not working?

One more thing to try with this is using JavaScript, and the saveLocation() call, instead of literal #hash URLs, and seeing if that makes any difference for you.

Test page that reproduces this problem for me: http://www.mychances.net/test/test.html

To provide evidence against myself, this works in Chome dev on my virtual XP instance. I'll reboot Win7 and see if this somehow fixes the problem on my end.

OK, Github needs to move the "Comment and Close" button away from where it currently is located. And I need to look before clicking. Argh, sorry.

Don't worry about it -- I can reopen them easily.

Ok just tested your example page in IE8 under Windows 7 again, and it still works properly for me. I think there's something going on with your setup and/or example code. I'd recommend trying a different example...

So after rebooting, I'm still seeing the same exact behavior. I'm going to try other machines around the lab next to see how many this affects.

Not that this is helpful, but I've even recorded a screencast now, since this is so odd to me: http://www.mychances.net/test/backbone.js.0.3.0.avi You can see, among other things, that the forward button never gets 'activated' as I click back through my history.

I'm looking for other examples online using backbone's history & routing support, but I can't find any. If you can point me to one, I'll gladly try. In the meantime, I'll try to see where to hook in to listen to what's going on so I can see where it's going wrong.

This is a Chrome or webkit issue, it seems. This problem occurs for me even if I'm not using backbone.js or any js on a page, for that matter. It even works if I just push #one #two #three to CNN. Closing this since it's not a backbone problem.
