If You have it configured it in your ~/.m2/Settings.xml it should use it.
If not that Is a bug.

I think we have a bug here. Maven settings.xml is in place.

Please open bug with example settings.xml that fail (replace secrets with bogus values) and a example of the .java file that fails for you. Thanks.
