Hi there! I took a stab at making a goose emoji :^) please let me know any feedback or alterations and if I should submit a PR with it
from twemoji.
Here's another take on the shaking face emoji. Still not quite sure about the face itself (especially the lines next to the eyes), however my goal was to keep it somewhat minimal while adhering to the grid.
from twemoji.
Now that Twemoji 15.0 has released, what do we do now?
It's been updated on Twitter itself, but not released to the open source community. We're trying to work with the releaser (one of our old coworkers) to also release on the OSS project, then we'll pull them into the fork. No ETA at the moment, unfortunately, but we'll definitely post here when we have one.
See #43
We cannot merge this because we don't have the rights to any of these images unless they're released under a relevant open source license. Having them publicly available on the Twitter website doesn't grant us the right to republish them in the OSS domain, unfortunately (it also doesn't grant permission to anyone able to rip them off the Twitter website to actually be able to reuse them without potential legal consequences).
from twemoji.
This color seems much paler than the light blue heart emojis on other platforms; it looks almost white.
Same for the pink heart emoji.
from twemoji.
See v15.0.2. Please report any oddities present in v15.0.2 by opening a new issue.
Caution
v15.0.0 and v15.0.1 were published to NPM with unfortunate bugs. You want v15.0.2.
from twemoji.
I made a design for the Wireless icon:
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 36 36">
<rect fill="#3B88C3" width="36" height="36" rx="4"/>
<g transform="translate(18,26.5) rotate(-135)">
<path d="M 0,19 a 20,20 0 00 19,-19 M 0,13 a 14,14 0 00 13,-13 M 0,7 a 8,8 0 00 7,-7"
fill="none" stroke="#FFFFFF" stroke-width="3" stroke-linecap="round"/>
</g>
<circle cx="18" cy="27" r="2.5" fill="#FFFFFF"/>
</svg>
(the background color/shape matches similar symbols (📶,🔄,etc.), and I've tried to keep it aligned to a 18x18 grid, like many of the other twemoji)
from twemoji.
@advaith1 Does this look good?
from twemoji.
the prototype is complete
It looks like 😌, fix it
from twemoji.
Note that unless the images are released in the original repo under a permissive license (which is unlikely due to Elon's ownership), the glyphs spotted on the Twitter website will be unusable in this fork due to X Corp. (formerly Twitter Inc.) retaining copyright over them. That's why this issue/thread exists; to remake what was lost from the takeover.

Yeah, this is precisely correct. The designs being launched on Twitter now are actually the ones we'd completed before the layoffs. We left behind instructions for anyone remaining on what would need to be done to launch them. I really hope that whoever's managed to half-launch these also manages to push them to GitHub :-) but with everything going on, I wouldn't fault them if it wasn't at the top of their priority list.
from twemoji.
Note: twitter has finally pushed their own update:
from twemoji.
Regarding the color of hearts (and circles and squares), it was anticipated that adding new ones should lead to adjusted colors of existing ones. https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2021/21075-heart-emoji-coverage.pdf

(ah, sorry about all the duplicates, I created these a few days ago and didn't know about this project until now)
anyway, for Shaking Face
, perhaps something similar to Noto Emoji? I like the way they've made it diagonal, to fit movement lines without shrinking the face very much)

黒い鳥に関してはカラスに似たやつが良い感じだと個人的に思います。

Try turning the jellyfish into an indigo hue. I think that would look good on it.
I'm not fully sure indigo looks good, but here are some alternative color versions

I made Lime and Brown Mushroom with Emoji 15.1

Report any problems immediately
Please fix it

thank you
from twemoji.
@jdecked thank you for the feedback :) when I'm creating the PR do I just have to put the relevant files in the corresponding assets folder or are there any scripts I need to run in addition to this?
@nyabla Put the relevant files in the corresponding assets folder (assets/svg) and we'll take care of making the PNG from the SVG. There's a GitHub action which will run on your PR to optimize the SVG.
from twemoji.
I think it's better with just the lines like all of the vendors.
"Possible misinterpretations: Apple & Samsung: listening to music, the lines being headphones. Or something alien-technology. Or Frankenstein. When I first saw those, I also got remembered of weights (and I did not see anything weights-related in years.) Google & WA: cheese grated. FB: Saturn with face. Well, all could also be seen as people on drugs. The Twitter one as well but it's hopefully less likely."
Shaking faces are smileys, not any of the things you mentioned.

@nyabla woohoo! Thanks! Can you make a PR with this? The one change we want is to smooth out the curve on the goose's upper back:
@12Me21 thanks, but @sofodesign already has something for Wireless Symbol that we'll be going with!
@jyo0329 thanks for all these superb submissions! PR Khanda and we'll approve it with no further comments. We're still chatting about Maracas and Shaking Face.
from twemoji.
By the way, just in case, I have created the jellyfish emoji and I have also PR'd it in #17. It currently looks like this:
Could use some feedback, if you have some.

i think this design is nice (just needs some small adjustments maybe?)

Regarding the black bird emoji... Sure, the name is really "black bird" but some keywords are "bird | black | crow | raven | rook" (https://unicode.org/emoji/charts-15.0/emoji-released.html) and the example looks a lot like raven or crow. Also take a look at the proposal: https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2019/19307-crow-emoji.pdf
I think it was a mistake to name this black bird, when it is clearly about crows; other vendors beside Google show a crow as well: https://emojipedia.org/black-bird/
For the shaking face I dislike Google's approach and would rather like to see a more visual overlapping and if we use shaking lines at all, then more BLACK "shaking lines" as in the example images but maybe even more and thinner (would also vote against rotation since that is rare and could confuse people about the meaning): https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2021/21214-shaking-face-emoji.pdf
TheEssem's proposal doesn't even show any kind of overlapping and is thus worse than Google's image in my opinion. Would also not use blue lines for shaking indication; they should rather be black — have you seen yellow (Google's take) or blue (TheEssem's take) shaking lines in comics?
from twemoji.
I kinda agree with the overlapping point, but without motion lines it feels too much like "overlapping" or "intersecting", vs "shaking", i think. (at least, the examples i've seen)
(I'd suggest something like: (note: that's 3 circles, with the center one being opaque) except at that point it's just too wide etc.)
from twemoji.
Are these publically available now, then? Where did you find them?
they're all at
https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/<codepoint>.svg
(i just checked the url of an emoji in a random tweet) these haven't been officially publicly released, so there are licensing issues as mentioned earlier
Ok, understood. How close can the remakes be to the originals? I mean a light blue heart is a light blue heart, right?
I might just take the ones Twitter has released and switch them up slightly for my needs.

Hello! I wanted to contribute the leftwards and rightwards pushing hand emojis, but being that I'm not much of a designer, I wanted to get people's feedback before making a PR.
I got started with a quick draft. I think it looks alright in the context of something like a Discord message:
...but I'm not entirely convinced with how it looks at a bigger size:
I'm sure there are some obvious things I can do to improve this, but I'm not experienced enough to see them. Is there anything that stands out?
from twemoji.
@santumerino The pushing hand looks like it has 4 fingers instead of 5

@jyo0329 Maracas looks good to us. Feel free to PR in. We'd been talking about the colour scheme but in some searching it doesn't seem like it should be a problem to us.
General comment on PRs – we'll merge them all right before preparing the v15 release so we can keep a clean main for any patch releases before then. (Theoretically we could set up a feature branch for v15 to merge outstanding approved PRs into, but this way is fine too and less work.)
from twemoji.
@santumerino The pushing hand looks like it has 4 fingers instead of 5
Good point @bsoap-cat, I notice most versions of this emoji are seen from a more side-on, flat view where only 3 fingers are visible. Maybe it'd be a better idea to do something closer to that?

I also personally liked the eyes used in this as the U+1F607 😇 and U+1F970 🥰 eyes look weird when being used in a downward direction.

The faces on U+1F607 😇 and U+1F970 🥰 aren't actually facing downwards their eyes and mouth are just closer to each other.

That's a very impressive glow-up! However there is only 1 problem, there is a weird hump on the lower thumb that might bother some users

I think gray or yellow lines around U+1FAE8 🫨 Shaking Face are perfectly fine. Besides, the vendors in this image mostly have the lines rather than transparent faces.
from twemoji.
Hard agreeing on the light-blue heart proposal being not quite blue enough. Some of the keywords for it are "cyan" and "teal," and the proposed one barely looks any different from the grey one! I like the idea of the other proposal in this thread - darkening the regular blue heart and substituting in something like the old blue one for a "light blue". Anything that makes it more blue/cyan would be lovely!
from twemoji.
I'd actually read that a long time ago and forgotten about it entirely! I'm a huge fan of how both blues end up looking in Twemoji on the demonstration images on page 8. It's practically perfect!
from twemoji.
It seems like Twemoji 15.0 is releasing soon! 👀
from twemoji.
My only complaints on these designs is that the pink heart looks too red and the gray looking too white. The shaking face has both the double effect and the blue lines.

Here's the best quality source i can find:

The colors might be off because the image only has a 64-color palette to reduce filesize

This version of the shaking face transports the message way clearer than the other ones.
Black bird on the emoji picker within Twitter also looks good.

How does that transmit a more understandable message with both the lines and the duplicate transparent face? I think it's better with just the lines like all of the vendors.
