No, I do not think we want to remove the registration section. If you look closely, the page at https://www.jenkins.io/events/devops-world/ is for all years up to the present year. And, I have just checked that button concerned is pointing to a valid site. So no action is required at this stage.

Is the registration button pointing to a page that will be updated once there will be an announcement for Devops world 2023?
Hey @om2137, Register button points to the official site of DevOps world, and yes they will definitely update their site when they have to announce DevOps world 2023. In fact, we have to change this page also. I think Kris is right, we can only disable this button till next session.

If we want to improve the page, while accepting that future changes will be needed for the page, we could change the text of the "Register" button to be "Sign-up for updates" or "Register for updates" and then could link to https://www.devopsworld.com/updates
That would need to be changed once DevOps World registration becomes available, but I think it might be a little better than the "Register" button on the existing page
@krisstern does that seem like a reasonable compromise to you?
@kmartens27 does that seem reasonable to you as well?

so can I raise a PR with changes? what should text of "Register" button be "Sign-up for updates" or "Register for updates"?
I think it should match the words on the destination page, "Sign-up for updates".

Should I push these changes?
Sure @om2137, if you have already completed these changes, and It's fine to maintainers, you can push your changes. I have no issue.

Better still we can just disable the button.

okay, so there is no need for changes in the register section.

@MarkEWaite Yup, that works. But we will need to remember to revert the change when the registration becomes open again.

@MarkEWaite sounds like a good idea to me. I think for now that works, and we'll revisit the page when there is info for 2023 available.
