@Alheim I reproduced the problem locally. As far as I can see in the logs, Gitlab does not send any /project/PROJECT_NAME/builds/status.png?ref=BRANCH_NAME requests when loading the page for a Merge Request from a forked repository. It does send a request though for Merge Requests on the same repo. So it seems to me like a Gitlab feature/bug.

@Alheim, what version of GitLab are you using? I thought I remember seeing some activity around this recently in the GitLab repository's Issues or PRs.
