What is the currently preferred way of achieving the select none/all function?
What's the purpose of the checkbox in the header without that function?
I've used it for the first time today and am not quite sure what to do with it.

Unfortunately it's just a feature that I never got around to finishing. I don't personally know of any off-the-shelf JS that would add the proper functionality, but I imagine it would exist somewhere. I'm happy to accept a PR for this behaviour.

Since adding media to columns is not a common use case and not many people request it, let's skip it for now.
Feel welcome to reopen to discuss a clean well tested patch.
