new tab only functional in incognito about newtab-redirect HOT 2 CLOSED

This would be caused by one of two things.

First, you may have another extension installed which doesn't work in incognito mode. New Tab Redirect does work in incognito mode. When two extensions override the new tab page, only one can actually override the page. I'm not sure how to determine what other extension does this other than searching through installed extension manifests for "newtab". Extensions are installed under:

Linux:
~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Extensions/

Mac:
Macintosh HD\Users\**username**\Library\Application Support\Google\Chrome\Default\Extensions\

Windows:
C:\Users\**username**\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\

Another thing it could be is an external program. I believe every instance I've heard of this is an application (or company?) called 'Conduit'. Details for removal seem to all be to remove the offending program: see here for example and here. From what I can tell, Conduit's extension/malware/virus (or whatever it is) is installed with uTorrent when users click-through and don't pay attention to options. After uninstalling uTorrent, it seems to remain.
