easiest way to address this is just to set a value manually in the searchTasks hook. though we may need to perform a lookup to ensure the array key is not already in use. or maybe just do:

$tasks[] = array(
  'title' => ts('Print Grants as PDF'),
  'class' => 'CRM_Grant_Form_Task_PrintPDF',
  'result' => FALSE,
);

...which would ensure a unique key without us having to pick a constant value.

I don't think the array key is referenced anywhere such that it needs to be a constant value. In core there are times that's needed in order to handle permissioning. But it's not used anywhere in that way in your extension.
