JWM really has nothing to do with the file system. Are you sure this is an issue with JWM?

since it's ok with version 679 but not with 686 and nothing is passed onto the xerrs.log so I think so, but I have no idea where.
As I said, Once it has happened for one app it's happening for all that has external set config files.
As I'm downloading and building intermediates for another problem I'll see if I can close down to two releases where it starts to happen.

version 681 seems to be ok, I forgot to test with version 685, will do tomorrow morning

I have to say, this sounds like a wild goose chase.

I know, and I had a serious think at the start, before even putting it in as a jwm problem, but I had it happen a number of times at inappropriate times after installing 686 and while testing, so it's a 'niggling problem' somewhere. I don't expect an immediate fix, just something to sit on the back-burner until a light appears when your checking code.

Not sure if this helps, but while testing jwm-691 I have not been able to reproduce this problem as it was ocurring previously EXCEPT in the ONE case of when opening a VERY LARGE data file through ROX and a click on the datafile. If I open the application via the jwm menu or a console screen and then open the datafile all is ok. I have not been able to reproduce it in 12 tries though. I wonder if it's actually a profile or memory availability problem for a new app window, or we have found a ROX problem instead.
If you want to 'have a quick look around in your code' with those thoughts in mind and if you find nothing I have no problems if you close this problem, after all, we can always reopen it if it reocurrs or gets worse to the level it was again.

Also issue#6 has reared it's head (I think) against one program, I've left a note in it, if you would like to check it please.

I'm going to close this at least for now as since the 20th feb I have not had it reocurr, even on the file it happened last.
