You are using python 3, I assume.
This issue is most probably because filter(lambda x: x in printable, text) returns a filter-type object (an iterator); not a string in python 3. So tokenize function can't work in it.
Use this code in def clean():
text = filter(lambda x: x in printable, text)
text = "".join(list(text)) # will convert filter type object to string
return text
