do the size thresholds that start causing problems happen to correspond to exceeding 2^31 nonzeros in your jacobian or hessian?

@tkelman But yes, that does seem to be correct; changing 2^31 to 2^31-1 for number of nonzeros in Jacobian seems to fix it

Ipopt uses 32 bit integers internally for all indices. You should be giving it a sparse jacobian. Use JuMP if you don't want to worry about jacobians yourself.
