yes we face the same constraint of restarting the Kalliope process to reload a brain or a setting.
It is a feature we plan to add in the future.
But if you need the feature quickly you can code it on your side and suggest it to the core :)

Restarting Kalliope is exactly the same as reloading if the objective is to take care of changes in brains.
I don't understand why it could be a cool feature? Furthermore, as you said, you need to be connected via SSH anyway to update your config. So you can restart the process in this same ssh connection, doesn't it?

ATM it is overkill but It will make sense in the future, we need to keep it in mind.
But it is not in our scope in a short term neither in a middle term.

Actually, this would be a good feature in the future, when Kalliope will use a web GUI to configure its synapses. But the fact is when we will have this GUI, the storage will be based on a database. The hot reload will be implicite as we will do a request to the DB each time is needed.
