hmm no clue, it works fine with me!
It could be directory contents issue, when you run doc2dash try to make sure that the directory you passed has genindex.html in it.
Though, I already update it to 0.4.3 #172

genindex.html is in the Astropy/docs.astropy.org/en/stable/ directory, so it doesn't appear to be a missing file issue.
P.S. - thanks for updating it, makes my attempt kind of moot. :)

your very welcome! yeah I tried twice by copying and pasting the commands you posted and both worked fine, this bugged me !!
which doc2dash --version are you using? I have 2.0.0

I upgraded doc2dash to 2.0.2, and tried it again and still work fine :-/ !!
from the error log, says something wrong with the sys.path,
If you have independent (from Anaconda) python installation, try to use doc2dash package from the system installation.

I appreciate the effort, probably not going to worry about it any more for now, since you have really "fixed" the issue (the old docket).
But just so I know, were you using the system default python (with I assume, the various required python packages pip installed) under Mavericks?
