BTW this causes middleman deploy to fail with the message ERROR: You need to activate the deploy extension in config.rb., which is really confusing given the actual issue.

this took me half an hour to figure. You should really have at least a 1.0.0 branch with the correct README ... thanks

I've spent a half an hour too to resolve the same thing. :(
Anyway, the console error shows good examples using 'deploy.method' instead of, that's how I found the error.
