PyAV depends upon several libraries from FFmpeg:

  • libavcodec-dev
  • libavdevice-dev
  • libavfilter-dev
  • libavformat-dev
  • libavutil-dev
  • libswresample-dev
  • libswscale-dev
  • pkg-config
    # PyAV dependencies
    $ sudo apt install --no-install-recommends -y \
        pkg-config libavformat-dev libavcodec-dev libavdevice-dev \
        libavutil-dev libswscale-dev libavresample-dev libavfilter-dev
