What is the output of version? In other words, what version of R are you using? The line unexpected '>' seems like R does not recognise the pipe (|>) symbol, which was introduced in some more recent R version.

Yes, the pipe symbol was introduced in R 4.1, so I hope that updating R will let you install the package. Let me know if that works!
