Well, PDF embedding (through <object> or <img>) has never been supported. What happens next? Do you still get an output? Does WeasyPrint crash? Do you get a traceback? There may be a bug in error reporting (string() on NULL) but if you get an output, that’s pretty much the expected behavior. Only SVG and raster image formats (PNG, JPEG, …) are supported.

Closing. I just released cairocffi v0.3.1 that fixes the error reporting, but PDF embedding is still not supported in WeasyPrint.
Please open a new issue (feature request) if you want PDF embedding, especially if you have ideas on how to do it with cairo.

Thanks for the replies. I do still get an output. I don't get a traceback. AFAIK, WeasyPrint itself does not crash. Will open a feature request, although I'm afraid I don't have ideas on how to embed PDF with cairo.
