go get/go install are not supported methods of installation, I believe. You'll have to use bazel as outlined in the README. Installing the credential provider independently of the other components of cloud-provider-gcp isn't supported either. You can build it independently in the normal bazel way, i.e, bazel build //cmd/auth-provider-gcp:auth-provider-gcp, but things like handling deployment of the credential provider will require using cloud-provider-gcp as a whole.

Yes, go get / go install are unsupported. We currently support bazel but may move to make in the future. see the README
