You're right - - we're just not in the marketing phase of lamdu yet, we don't want people to get disappointed with the preliminary state it is in, and blacklist it...
We do slightly market it to get a bit of feedback and because it's fun to show off, though :)
When we're in a more advanced stage, we'll definitely add screenshots, though they do not capture the nice smooth animations, we'll need a high FPS screen cast for that...

I tried it (finally got my linux box working); it doesn't seem unusable. What's missing?

Almost everything :) We don't have type declarations yet. We don't have proper deletions. Lots of quirky behaviors and gaps in the UI. No execution yet. It cannot scale to real work yet (no revision control, completion search is linear to number of all definitions).
