Rebase of linuxbrew on latest homebrew about legacy-linuxbrew HOT 4 CLOSED

I've been rebasing, but that makes brew update problematic. Rebase makes it easier to see exactly what's different between mxcl/homebrew and homebrew/linuxbrew. @mistydemeo, do you rebase or merge homebrew/tigerbrew?

@sjackman I merge. Even though I keep core code changes to a minimum, I've found rebasing has been pretty infeasible to keep going longterm and, like you say, brew update doesn't work well without a linear history.

git diff and other diffing tools can compare branches regardless of remote, so I don't find that merging makes it too hard to see what's changed, even if the exact set of commits isn't as easily isolated.
