I agree. It bugs me (a little) every time I log in that I have to actively click on the only user on my userlist before I can start typing in the password. Not the best way to start your Linux Mint experience, with an unnecessary nuisance.

The only user present should be pre-selected. In case of more than one user, either the top of the list or the last used should be pre-selected.

Relatively common complaint by now - latest example: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=123313

We'll get this done. It might be a little while before we focus on MDM but it's part of our roadmap for Mint 15 (greeter, borders, performance, usability..etc).

Apologies for the bump, but has this (or is this still planned to be) implemented? I'm trying out mdm 1.1.5 on raring and I can't find any way to preselect a user. I noticed "Usability improvements" was marked as [Done] in the roadmap for LM15 so I'm a bit worried about this feature. Thanks :)

Edit: Four months later and I've finally made the move to Mint 15 now that the KDE edition has arrived. It's great! Congrats and thanks to your team! I wasn't a KDE user before, but this release was enough to convert me.

Unfortunately, I still need to install Lightdm due to this feature being missing from MDM. I hope to see it in Mint 16 and I wish I knew how to contribute the changes myself. Hopefully this improvement can make the roadmap for the next release.

Hi Clem,

I would also be so glad if I had the preselected user feature back! As it is now already August maybe you already implemented it for the next Mint? It really is a nuasance - sometimes I type my password in the user field and it is visible :-(

many greets,
Jürgen

Hi,

I agree with OWKenobi. Linux Mint 15 seems to be pretty user-friendly but the login screen design is silly. Please implement the pre-select of the last logged user account.

Thx a lot in advance!

O.

This is now implemented in the lose-10-pounds branch and should very likely be ready in time for Mint 16.

How to "deselect" the automatically selected user if i need to change it (and using a login screen without user list but a text login field for the username only)?
