Also, would be nice to have some sort of serial field on all the cards, so we don't need separate db for tracking the cards.
What does that mean?

Field with some serial number of the card. Otherwise it requires a separate db for tracking them, which obviously nobody will do

Most cards contain I2C EEPROMs with unique serial numbers. You are welcome to develop the corresponding software and infrastructure to track those. There is already some of that in quartiq/kasli-i2c.

That's not obvious to me and also storing those with the JSONs makes it difficult to track user changes.
