Most cards contain I2C EEPROMs with unique serial numbers. You are welcome to develop the corresponding software and infrastructure to track those. There is already some of that in quartiq/kasli-i2c.

That's not obvious to me and also storing those with the JSONs makes it difficult to track user changes.
