More constructive answer: I went to the Plunker of this project, I added a scope variable for the Single demo, and removed the options from the config:

{value: 3, text:'Random Guy'}, {value: 4, text:'Another One'}

sortField: 'text',
maxItems: 1,
}and in the HTML I added an options tag:
<selectize placeholder='Select a person...' config="singleConfig" options="singleList | limitTo: -3" ng-model="single"></selectize>and, as expected, it worked.
