I think I know what you're asking for, but let me repeat it back to you:

You'd like to have a gridster-item already initialized outside of the gridster instance, and when you drag that item into the grid, you'd like it to attach to the grid an have it start interacting like any other item in the grid. Is that correct?

If so, we'd have to remove the gridsterItem directive requirement that it be within a gridster directive instance. We'd also have to have some way to push the item into the scope items list or into the gridster instance's item list on drag enter. It sounds possible, but not incredibly simple.
