I just saw the instructions in the README are lacking this piece of information. I'll try to get it updated later today.
But yes, it was created to be used unattended in a CI/CD server or an automation script. I don't remember if it works from the UI.
The important pieces you need to add when running unattended are:
--validation rest --rest-securitytoken ***** [--rest-usehttps]
I'll get a more complete example up as soon as I can.

Thank you for your response.
I did eventually find the plugin menu options when performing a Create Certificate with full options. It shows up as a verification option "[http] Send verification files to the server by issuing HTTP REST-style request" and subsequently allows for input of the API authentication Bearer Token.
However, I realized your implementation would not work for my intended use case.
I was looking for a way to register certificates on hosts internal to our network which are not accessible from the Internet.
To allow for that, the API needed to be accessible on an internal interface at an FQDN common to all requests. In other words, I needed the PUT's and DELETE's from the plugin to go to the internal host interface, at a host like: http://acme-challenge.internal.host.com
I've managed to tweak your plugin and API code to satisfy my needs, while maintaining the functionality as you originally intended. (I think, I still need to test the original methodology). However, I've had to hard-code the internal host address in the plugin code.
I need to see how I might allow for the internal host to be optionally provided outside the plugin code, from a configuration file or something. I'll see if I can find a recommendation from win-acme.
If I can make that work in a straightforward way, I'll share the code and potentially request a pull of the plugin update if that is agreeable.
