What you’re trying to do here, i.e. <input type=date placeholder=foo>, is invalid HTML. Therefore I don’t think we need to support this in the plugin.

That said, if you can create a jsFiddle with an example I can help you solve the problem.

Sure, you’re using <input type=text> in your example, but you really mean date.
