@freQuensy23-coder

Can you give an example plot and user story so that I can better understand what you want, and why it's needed?

Thanks.

If I understand you question correctly, here is a workaround to plot "step number" on the x-axis (as long as you have 366 steps or fewer). Suppose your OHLC (candlestick) data is in a dataframe called df, then do the following:

# generate an arbtrary datetime index as long as your data:
dtix = pd.date_range(start='1/1/2024',periods=len(df))

# set the generated datetime index as the index of your dataframe:
df.index = dtix

# plot using datetime_format="%j" or "%-j":
mpf.plot( df, type='candle', datetime_format="%j")
