Even though I created the 'ai-cache' folder, the subfolders cannot be created:
mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /home/jelmegu78/domains/pixels-paper.nl/public_html/adaptive-images.php on line 192
The folder already has 755 permissions

changed all to 777, then it worked... odd !

Yeah, it depends on the server configuration. Technically a well set-up server should only need 755, and that is very secure. Some servers need 775 which is a little less secure, and still others need 777 - which works but be aware that it means that anyone can write into the folder and execute any script inside that folder. 777 isn't too bad on a personal server, but on a shared server can lead to security problems because any user on the server can see and access that folder - not just you.
