Whole folder deletion is now possible. I will publish a new release soon.

In the File Search tab, an extra text input to search by file extension, with an option to select and delete selected items.

You can already search by file extension using the % wildcard. I will point that out in the README.
Multiple file selection in the File Search tab is also planned.

Hi @archivesilver,
I don't have enough time and motivation at the moment to implement the feature to create a backup from scratch, but you can already remove files from an existing one. If you have some very large files, this should help. It doesn't work with whole folders yet, but that would be something I can implement if you want.
Adding new files to an existing backup is also more or less on my to-do list.

How do I do that? Can this program do that?
I can't find any files with the same name as the extracted ones after I use this program.

When you select your backup, navigate to the "Files" tab and locate the file you want to remove, you can just right-click on it and there should be an option called "Delete".

I can't find any files with the same name as the extracted ones after I use this program.

I don't quite understand what you mean by this. Could you explain this further if the delete function doesn't suit your needs?

What I meant was extracted file names didn't match any files in the original backup directory, seen via windows explorer. I thought I could manually locate and delete files using windows explorer. I understand now.

I have found the right-click option. But, I want to delete a lot of files at once. I have thought of a few features that would help me a lot. Please let me know if any of the following can be implemented:

• Ability to delete selected files and folders. A button next to Export selected files on Files tab. (Right-click option only deletes 1 file at a time even when multiple selected.)
• In the File Search tab, an extra text input to search by file extension, with an option to select and delete selected items.

Not sure this is the same "ask" but I also think being able to "re-create" the backup unencrypted would be great- then we could use other tools to explore/access the content

I'd be very grateful if you can implement the "whole folder delete"! I'm trying to restore an 13gb backup to an 16gb old iphone, but I don't need all the photos from camera roll. Thanks in advance!

@zzph Hey, could you create a separate issue/feature request for this?

Thank you very much! I tryed to manage the lack of folder delete by using a macro tool that repeated the gests of deleting files one by one (~5000 times). But when I tryed to restore the "slim" backup, Itunes returned an error saying the "backup is corrupted". So I gave up and restored the older whatsapp android backup to my new android phone --- I lost one month of whatsapp messages during the period I was using an iphone. But I still very grate for you effort.
