I hear what you're saying.

I implemented the Clamp command-line parsing that way to keep it simple. Check out the main parsing logic:

  def parse(arguments)
    @remaining_arguments = arguments.dup
    parse_options
    parse_parameters
    parse_subcommand
    handle_remaining_arguments
  end

This would get more complicated - and make my head hurt - if Clamp had to deal with option flags and option arguments interleaved with position parameter arguments and subcommands.

Personally I find the options-before-parameters constraint "cleaner", though I have to admit it's caught me out at times, too.

I'm very happy to consider pull-requests that relax the constraint, so long as they don't unduly complicate the internals.

@mdub sorry, I never really got around to this. Maybe in the future, but for now, we simply kept Thor in favour of Clamp. Priorities are a b*tch 👎 😄
