There is no roadmap or timeline for this project. I actually have the code
complete except for the fact that my Bonjour handling is windows only and I
would prefer to have native Bonjour handling rather than count on a library.
This would allow it to be cross platform for Mono.

I also make a lot of money selling this product (MonkeyTunes for MediaMonkey)
that I am still deciding whether to open source it or not. I create the
Google Code project in case I decided to open source it since I wanted to grab
the name dacp.net before someone else did.

Did you have a specific player in mind you wanted to create a DACP Server for?

Yes, AlbumPlayer to be specific. http://www.albumplayer.com/
I was hoping to find an implementation that was not hard coded to any specific
player or perhaps a project that allowed dacp libs to be bridged to any players
api or even a dlna or squeeze converter for that matter. Seeing that we have
these independent copies of dacp implementations, mediamonkey, foobar,
songbird, Rhythmbox, stereo. Right now libdmapsharing and daapd seem like the
best librarys. So this project seemed to be possibly the best, obviously you
have one of the best implementations of dacp in your product, it looks to be
very good. I certainly understand your hesitance.

OK so the good news is I am working with Peter from AlbumPlayer for native DACP
support in AlbumPlayer in 2011. He and I have known each other for a long
time since my app Intelliremote supports AlbumPlayer.

I definitely know what you mean about a bridged implementation but what makes
that tough is that each of these players is SOOO different like Linux vs
Windows, like C code vs .NET vs Delphi vs C++ etc. That it would be hard to
create one common library or API that could be used by all of them in a generic
way that could be bridged.

I am sure it could be done with a lot of planning up front but DACP is very
very very complex and to try and do a one size fits all implementation would be
difficult. Not saying it would be impossible, just difficult.

This project is complete and Album Player now has a DACP plugin available from
the AlbumPlayer developer.
