@gitnik How would you like latest to be handled? The main advantage of the check-dependencies module over native npm ls, apart from npm ls not always giving correct results is speed as check-dependencies never has to consult the remote npm server to see if dependencies are up to date. If we checked what the latest version is, this advantage would disappear for packages using latest in their package.json. This would also be more difficult to test as we'd need a dynamically filled test fixture as latest will mean different things in different times.
We could also just ignore version checking for such dependencies. I think I'll just go with such an approach; if you want to propose an API checking for latest, let me know.
