@jonabox Closing this issue: I noticed that with the newest version of pyright some new typing errors were reported. With #22 I upgraded and pinned the version of pyright to avoid future regression caused by pyright. I also fixed all the new typing errors.

I think the pyright errors are caused by the python environment you are running under. Try first activating the python environment under the venv subdirectory and then run git push. This will make sure pyright uses the correct version of python and package dependencies.

@jonabox Also, if you are just pushing unfinished changes to Github and don't want to run the pyright pre-validation checks you can use the --no-verify switch: git push --no-verify.
