I'm assuming someone noticed that the backslashes are escape characters there?

CreateNamedPipe does not support the PipeMode flag of PIPE_REJECT_REMOTE_CLIENTS prior to Windows Vista. This is the default value in pipe.go:212 This is what's causing the "The parameter is incorrect" response.
The API call SetFileCompletionNotificationMode is not supported prior to Windows Vista. This is used in file.go:102
CancelIoEx API call is not supported prior to Windows Vista. This is used in several locations in file.go at 122 175 and 195. This could present a problem as the alternative that is compatible with XP/2003 is CancelIo but you must execute that call on the same thread that the IO operation was started on. Maybe if all calls are done on an OS thread using runtime.LockOSThread() this wouldn't be an issue?
