The extensions will lag behind the main 3.0 progress. Right now, the blog extension is pretty out of date. We're adding a lot of support code to core which will help simplify blogging.
I'm also still working on setting up test cases for blogging so we can see just how broken it is at any given time.
You're welcome to dig it, but right now it's probably more broken than not.

In that case, I'll wait patiently. Thanks for the info.

Any progress on that?

I use master on my blog, but there still hasn't been any work to simplify this extension (or add command line tools and other 3.0 features.)

I would love to use it and even fix it. I might need some help to do that.
Master does not work for me and raises same error. Oddly enough middleman server
and middleman build
behave differently. middleman server
works most of the time.

There is some basic work on this repo's master branch in addition good test coverage. That will be very important for making things rock solid in the 3.0 release.
I'd love to help out, but I'm totally busy for the next 2 weeks. Then I'll come back and get things moving again.

+1
@tdreyno, I'm curious to know what commit you have middleman
and middleman-blog
checked out to.

Not sure, haven't posted a blog entry in a couple months.
3.0 is nearing the end of the beta, so hopefully we'll get blog synced up and released in April.

middleman-blog
should work fine with middleman
master now.

(subject to a handful of non-backwards-compatible changes - check the test fixtures for usage examples for now, I'll write docs in a bit)

Docs are up for master
