Hi, sorry for the late reply.
I just tried to improve the according section in the FAQ, is that better now?
To explicitly answer your question: no, it doesn't build packages differently, it's just meant to be able to provide several different Debian packages in a single repository, I'm using this feature in customer setups where it's necessary to provide full platform build through one single place.

So "release" is not designed to be (say) "squeeze" or "stable" but more something like "mycomplicatedsetofpackage", which can then have their own stable/testing/unstable distributions within it.. Is that correct?
I was expecting the opposite... It seems that "REPOS" is what I really want - if I set "REPOS" to "unstable", then I get an "unstable" distribution and all packages that are built for that distro get sent in the same place...
