Hi (and sorry for the late reply)!

Are you aware of the "$tag" feature inside jenkins-debian-glue already? If "tag=$some_tag" is set (e.g. via parameterized build) then generate-git-snapshot will take exactly what's inside the tagged $some_tag state of the repository and won't touch debian/changelog or any other files at all.

By further using $release you can push the results to a specific repository (configurable via $RELEASE_REPOSITORY in recently released jenkins-debian-glue v0.5.0) then also, if that would help.

If that doesn't yet provide what you need I'm happy to further discuss your use case.

What I would like is a way to automatically build a release when a tag is pushed. I would prefer not to have to pass an parameter to the build job (say tag=1.0) but instead have the job notice new tags and build on those.
