feature request: check default-directory for dynamic remote completion over tramp about vertico HOT 3 CLOSED

Hmm, what kind of completion table is that, which behaves like that? Why does the table report the file category but the prompt is not a path? Checking the default-directory would of course be a possibility.

My own custom dynamic completion. I just happen to think that it's easier to find the file you're looking for (with vertico/selectrum), when file-name is at beginning of the line:

The long mount path of the repo is sometimes part of the super-repo setup and, as an user (and employee), I don't really have a choice.

My custom command consists of a front-end command and a back-end dynamic completion table. The front end calls completing-read to get from the backend (and vertico) an entry like:

ubi-media.h   in linux/drivers/mtd/ubi at /localdisk/a/very/very/very/very/long/path

the front-end command then converts it into a path

/localdisk/a/very/very/very/very/long/path/linux/drivers/mtd/ubi/ubi-media.h

and calls find-file.
