This component relies on something sending Bluetooth LE advertisement packets - it sounds like the Tile stops sending those once it's connected to something. Unfortunately I do not own one of these to try it out, but I went through their support documents and found this info (in the "Did you share your Tile?" section).
If the Tile cannot be found by more than one phone at a time, it can't be found by the room-assistant component if it's connected either. Have you tried asking their support if there is a way to keep sending packets while a connected phone is nearby?
