By the way this example runs on your latest development branch..

Hello mikecules,
thanks for your report.

Are you using a new iPad to achieve these results?

We are currently finalizing a fix to solve these issues. It should be pushed in the next hour on the devel branch.

Unfortunately the A5X CPU is exactly the same as the A5 but rendering pdf pages on an iPad Retina Display will require 4 times the power (or the time).

Best regards,
Matteo

The fix is up,
could you try the 3.3.3 version on the devel branch?

Best regards,
Matteo

Will do I will let you know - and yes this behavior only happens on the device (not the simulator) which is expected given that it has a lot more computing horsepower behind it. While the logic is understood it's really disappointing that Apple didn't give their CPUs an upgrade as well as GPU's only help to push graphics to the screen not process the logic behind the scenes...

Thanks

Working great now - I can see the progressive resampling being done in the rendering - good solid approach to the problem. Cheers!

We are already working on a pixel perfect solution, but it will take some time...

Thanks for your feedback!

Any luck with this issue yet?

We've developed a new rendering system that let us use cached images.
We are now testing it to choose the right balance.
Probably we will let you set some parameters to achieve best performances in relation with your pdf documents.

macteo avatar macteo commented on June 2, 2024

Just to inform you that we've just achieved a new speed record with the new rendering engine. We are very happy.

We are going to add few new features required by the caching system and it will be pushed to the devel branch.

We just achieved a new rendering speed on iPad 3. You'll be really surprised as we are.

cguerin avatar cguerin commented on June 2, 2024

When can we have access to it?

If you want an early access we can publish it on a different branch...

from fastpdfkit.

cguerin avatar cguerin commented on June 2, 2024

That would be great, please do!

I need to wait at least until tomorrow, as we clean up a little bit.
